What is Venous Disease?

The veins are the highway system in the body through which blood is transported to your arteries and your vital organs. Your veins typically work on a one-way system using a series of strong valves to ensure the traveling blood does not flow back in the opposite direction with gravity. That being said, the valves in your veins have the potential to get older as you do. Weak valves in the veins can lead to blood pooling in areas it shouldn't and creating a variety of complications that may cause discomfort, and eventually harm, to our patients. If you are experiencing restless leg syndrome or chronic pelvic pain in addition to other uncomfortable conditions, we encourage you to come in for a private consultation with one of our vascular specialists as soon as you can.
